St. Michael Lutheran

Our Mission

The mission of St. Michael is to go and make disciples, trusting the Lord is with us.  This means to reach souls for Christ for teaching, preaching and living the word of God.  Each member is an important part of the body of Christ, moved by God’s love to commit one’s time, talent and treasures.

Through our mission the following are central in what we do here at St. Michael:

I.    Worship

          Our core beliefs in Worship:

               a. The basis of membership at St. Michael shows itself by our gathering as the body of Christ.  (Acts 2:42)

               b. We are called, gathered, enlighten, encourage, and transformed as disciples through the Word of God and through the

                    Sacraments.  (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; Romans 15:4)

               c. Our Faith is strengthened through the St. Michael worship community.

II.   Education

          Our core belief in Education:

               a. Education promotes growth as disciples of Jesus.  (Matthew 28:19-20)

               b. Through our Day School, Sunday school, Confirmation, and Adult Bible Study we build upon the foundation of faith, hope

                    and love in Jesus Christ.

               c. Education leads us into the world with the truth of Jesus so we can confidently and intelligently engage it.

                    (Ephesians 4:14-15)

III.  Spiritual Growth

Our core belief in Spiritual Growth:

               a. In our walk with our faith in Jesus, we do not remain with the status quo.  That is, we continue to grow. (2 Peter 3:17-18)

               b. The Holy Spirit is constantly moving us to grow in faith and love. (Galatians 5:22-23)

               c. We grow, reaching out with love to our neighbor, resisting temptation, living humbly, seeking peace, fostering unity, and,

when we’ve failed, our growth is restored as we repent and Jesus forgives. (Galatians 5:16-26; Colossians 1:11-14)

IV.  Christian Charity

Our core belief in Christian Charity:

               a. Since we live in a fallen world, there will always be people in need.  (Matthew 26:11)

               b. We strive individually and corporately to offer love and compassion to those in need, through prayer, food, housing,

clothing, visiting, and defending. (James 1:27; 1 Timothy 5:3-8; Acts 6:1-3)

               c. Our compassion and charity is for all people.

V.   Christian Fellowship

Our core belief in Christian Fellowship:

               a. Through the blood of Jesus we become brothers and sisters in Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27)

               b. We are united to each other in and through Jesus. (Romans 6:3-8)

               c. We pray for one another, watch out for each other and celebrate together our life in Christ. (James 5:13-20)
